Quizzes and Readings

With the overwhelming amount of personality and relationship quizzes and readings out there, we narrowed these three down to help gain a better understanding of who you are and who your partner is.

Remember to take these all with a grain of salt. We cannot define ourselves into a narrow definition. It would be naive to do so. These quizzes and readings give us the vocabulary to help guide you and your relationship.

You’ve probably heard about this concept, or maybe you’ve read the book by Dr. Gary Chapman (which is even better). His theory focuses on his decades of experience as a successful marriage counselor.

Learning about your love language might sound cliché, but his concept holds significant value in love and relationship dynamics. Understanding you and your partner’s love language helps you both understand how you want to be loved and how your partner can make you feel loved (and Visa Versa).

❤️ The 5 Love Languages:

i. Words of Affirmation

ii. Acts of Service

iii. Receiving Gifts

iv. Quality Time

v. Physical Touch

16 Personalities

Out of all the personality quizzes (which we've taken an embarrassing amount of), this is the best, in our opinion. Their theory model combines the theories of Mayer-Briggs and Carl Jung, creating the Big Five Personality Types.

This information can be robust and sometimes scarily accurate but remember that an online test cannot hold the absolute truths about you. Many other factors affect personality (i.e., environment, current emotions, society, childhood, and much more).

Write your personality type, strengths, and weaknesses.

The quiz evaluates your Five Personality aspects, that when combined, creates your personality type. The following are the Five Personality Aspects:

i. Mind - how we interact with our surroundings

ii. Energy - how we see the world and process information

iii. Nature - how we make decisions and cope with emotions

iv. Tactics- our approach to work, planning, and decision-making.

v. Identity- how confident we are in our abilities and decisions.

The Five Couple Conflict Types

There is no adequate quiz for this concept, so we suggest you read this article that covers it. đź‘‰ How to Argue without Destroying your Relationship: How you fight can impact your relationship stability by Zara Zareen

The research and theory are from the Gottman Institute. We chose this blog post (instead of the Gottman Institutes’s blog) because it was re-written in a more straightforward and easier to understand fashion.

If you’d like to read it from the source,  đź‘‰ here it is

The Five Couple Types is a concept from The Gottman Institute, which specializes in the science and study of relationships. With over four decades of research, they have proven that a good relationship is not just pure luck; its also science. When it's science, we can put in the effort and make changes for improvement.

We wish there were an adequate quiz for this concept; however, we believe after reading the article, you and your partner will figure out your couple type.

Conflicts are inevitable in every relationship, and we all approach them differently. Defining and understanding how you and your partner face discourse will help create more balance in your relationship.

By gaining awareness of your conflict patterns, you can spot the signals that trigger an argument. Make a note of these signals so you can enter a dispute with more composure and equality.

The types marked with are the types that do not have healthy conflict behavior and have a higher probability of breaking up. However, do not fret if you fall under one of those categories. You can improve your unbalance as long as both partners put in the necessary work.

 The Five Couple (Conflict) Types:

1. Conflict-avoiders

2. Volatile

3. Validating

4. Hostile

5. Hostile-detached
